EXHIBITION SCHEDULE TO BE DETERMINED

Tentative Launch in Edmonton 2024/25

​

The schedule for the Canadian forest exhibition and related special offers and promotions are not yet available.  Images will be solicited from Canadian photographers through the end of 2021, with the intention of launching in Edmonton in the summer of 2024/25 at the Convention Centre (approx. 15-day exhibition).  Other Canadian exhibition sites will then follow.  The date for the call for submissions for the International forest has not been determined.

Please note videos on this website refer to a submission closing date of December 31, 2020 and a tentative exhibition date of the summer of 2022.  Due to Covid challenges, design and construction requirements, image processing and numerous other project initiatives, these have been extended to December 31, 2021 and 2024/25 respectively.

Below is a high-level summary of the project schedule:

  • Initial installation design (e.g., protypes) and website/project launch (completed) – 2018 to 2020

  • Planning and execution of National Meetup Tour (300+ participants: completed) – 2019 to 2021  

  • Creation of trunk images from National Meetup Tour – 2020 to 2023

  • Engagement with First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities, including meetup and creation of images – 2021 to 2023

  • Engagement with various physical and/or intellectual disability, religious, ethnic, LGBTQ and other organizations in Alberta, including meetup and creation of images – 2021 to 2023 

  • Finalization of installation themes and design – 2023

  • Government and corporate sponsorship outreach – 2023/24

  • Creation of exhibition and schedule – 2024/25

Events and Promotions

 

The Forest – Common Ground ® will appeal to all ages.  As we get closer to exhibition day, we will post all of the activities, specials and promotions available during the show.  Here is a list of some of the events and promotions being considered for inclusion in the exhibition.  

 

Families

  • A special fantasy night for families.  Kids 10 and under dressed up as a fairy, elf or leprechaun (or another of their favorite characters) will be admitted free.  And they might just meet one of the special people that live in The Forest.

  • A kid's zone where the little ones can learn, play and generally have fun in an interactive setting.  

 

Ticket Specials

  • Family Day – special admittance pricing for families

  • Seniors Day – a discount for people 60+ years young

  • Date Night – we will team up with local restaurants to provide a romantic evening stroll through The Forest

  • Reduced Pricing During Evenings – Special pricing Monday thru Thursday evenings after 5 pm

  • Group Tickets – gather your friends and family together for a hike through The Forest.  Contact us to handle the details.  The larger the group, the larger the discount:

    • 20 to 100: 15% off

    • 101 to 200: 20% off

    • 201+: 25% off

  • Retail Partnerships – we will work with local retailers to offer special deals on tickets and The Forest merchandise tied to product purchases

  • Media partnerships – local media outlets will offer listeners the chance to win free admission tickets to The Forest  

 

Treasure Hunt

We will partner with local sponsors and media to provide a treasure hunt experience to run over the course of the exhibition.  New clues will be released periodically, culminating in one lucky person winning a unique art piece (value of $12,500+) created by Jon Havelock from images in The Forest – Common Ground.
